Memorial Day: Remembering the Ones Who Gave Everything

At JJ Benson Inc., Memorial Day carries a weight that is difficult to put into words.

As a Veteran-owned business, we understand that this day is not about a sale, a long weekend, or a clever marketing slogan. It is a day set aside to remember the men and women of our Armed Forces who never made it home — those who gave everything in service to this country, their families, their brothers and sisters in uniform, and the freedoms we too often take for granted. Their sacrifice is the reason we pause.

We also recognize that service takes many forms. Across our communities, there are law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS professionals, first responders, and everyday people who step forward when others step back. Some wear uniforms. Some wear work boots. Some wear scrubs. Some wear no title at all. They are neighbors, parents, friends, and strangers who choose courage, compassion, and duty when it matters most.

Not all heroes wear capes. Many carry radios, hoses, stretchers, badges, rucksacks, tool bags, or simply the quiet strength to help someone else through a hard moment. Today, our deepest honor remains with the fallen service members Memorial Day was created to remember. Their legacy lives in the families who carry their names, the flags placed at their graves, and the freedoms preserved by their sacrifice.
